Here’s a list of some of the common questions we’ve gotten from other attendees, and what we’ve learned from other Big Snow Tiny Conf events in Vermont and Colorado.
Is this right for me?
This conference is put on by entrepreneurs and for entrepreneurs. If you run an online business that is self funded (bootstrapped) this is a great fit. If you’ve been to MicroConf, BaconBizConf, Double Your Freelancing Conf or Rhodium Weekend then this is for you.
Will I get my own bed?
Very fair question. Yes you are guaranteed to have your own bed. We have rented a large 4 bedroom chalet in the heart of Morzine. With 6 beds this means that 2 attendees will have their own room, and 4 will have their own bed, but in a bedroom with another attendee.
Who’s organizing all this?
The conference is put on by two entrepreneurs, who just like to ski, and talk business.
Craig Hewitt is an American living in France. Craig runs PodcastMotor, a full service podcast editing and production company and Seriously Simple Podcasting, a WordPress podcasting plugin and hosting SaaS. He’s also the co-host of the Rogue Startups podcast.
I’m not a pro skier, is that a problem?
Absolutely not. Our primary goal is to have a great time, talk some business, and enjoy meeting other entrepreneurs. If you’re a beginner or veteran skier you’ll do great. Mont Blanc has something for everyone.
What is your refund policy?
While it would be a shame for someone to not make it we totally understand that these things happen. Our refund policy works like this:
If you cancel before the event and a replacement can be found we will refund your entire registration fee. If we cannot find a replacement for you in time then you will receive a partial refund depending on funds available after the conclusion of the trip. Our goal is for this to be a zero net event (after all, we’re all bootstrapping our companies, this is not different).
How will gear rentals be handled?
I will arrange to have us rent gear on Monday, February 5th so that we can hit the slopes early on the 6th and 7th. Morzine is a big ski village, and there are several options. I’ll make arrangements for all attendees to rent gear ahead of time, and we’ll ask for your information ahead of the trip.
How do I get to Morzine?
The easiest flight in is to Geneva, Switzerland. From there in the winter there are several shuttle options directly to Morzine. I will have a car and will be able to shuttle people from the drop off location to the flat. It’s a small town though, so the goal is to walk once we’re all there.
Of course feel free to work with other attendees to share rides or logistics from the airport too.
What else do I need to bring?
Aside from ski gear that you won’t be renting the only thing you should need is casual wear for afternoons and evenings. We’ll go out to dinner on Wednesday evening, but it won’t be anything too fancy.
I’m sure we’ll all have to check in a few times with the crew (at home or work) and there will be WiFi at the apartment, so you may want to bring computer/iPad.
What about these attendee talks?
Nothing to be scared about, for sure. The main goal with the talks is to get to know each other a bit, and hopefully see how we can all help each other out. Plan on talking for about 20 minutes about you, your business, some wins you’ve had recently, and some things that are challenging you.
This is a very safe and open environment, so please share with everyone. Without everyone contributing the impact just won’t be as great for all of us. Everything that’s said and shared at Big Snow Tiny Conf stays at Big Snow Tiny Conf so you should feel comfortable sharing anything you would with a Mastermind group here.
On Wednesday afternoon we will be breaking out into 2 different mastermind groups for a couple of hours. This is where you can really share some gritty details about your business and hopefully get some really great perspectives on things from everyone.
How can I network with other attendees ahead of the conference?
With your registration you’ll be invited to our private Whatsapp group where we can all get to know each other a bit, share some stories, and plan a few logistics. This is a great place to plan ride sharing if you’d like.
We will also have a pre-conference call to chat through a few details, allow everyone to introduce themselves, and get to know each other a bit before the event.
